Writing contests give writers the opportunity to have their work critiqued and compared to their peers. Contests are particularly important for emerging authors to receive professional feedback and to see how well their new skills stack up against other writers.
The League of Utah Writers sponsors an annual writing contest. For the past five years I have submitted books and articles to the contest. The following have received awards.
